This is a redesigned website of “Pensacola Glass Company,” a company that’s located in Pensacola, Florida. The main purpose of the project was to update an outdated website with favorable designs and to practice implementing designs to an actual coded website.

I found that the original website had outdated designs both visually and interactively. I started with the visual design by redesigning the logo of the company to determine the style the website would be using for further designs. The design of the logo was to portray the geometric shapes of windows and the mosaic glasses. The color was chosen to represent mosaic glasses, but also the vibe Pensacola has, where there are beautiful beaches with vibrant colors. The dark gray teal color conveys the fact that the company is a firm and trustworthy company to their tasks.

Looking through the website, the user flow lacked convenience, finding it hard to know the main purpose of the website. As all businesses’ main purpose is to earn profit out of their product/service, the first thing the website needs to emphasize is providing their services. I emphasized the services using the intriguing color on all the buttons which lead to getting a quote for the services. Overall visuals of the original website also lacked visual interest, so I added in more glass-related visuals. The hierarchy and placement of the layout were confusing, so I made it simple and obvious for users to interact. The order of the rows was intended. After providing the button for quotes, it was best to show users the company’s works to provide credence to the company’s work.

After designing the UI/UX in Adobe XD, I was able to implement the design to actual coding by using the Canvas template. Canvas template is a multi-purpose Bootstrap 5-based html template. By using the template, I finished the website with ease. I incorporated web interactions such as parallax scrolls and interactive buttons. I needed to edit with coding to match the templates to my design.
