Journaling is an awesome hobby to do. People always want to write a journal daily, but they give up on it easily. I came to wonder, how can we get people to get motivated to journal everyday?

I did research based on the question, and the following are the insights.

• They are too busy. They say there are no time to write.

• They say it feels like a chore to finish.

• They say it’s not fun to write.

For busy users, I designed an effortless user flow where the users can write their journal without any unnecessary steps, but clicking the Scribble button to write.

Daily Ideas

Daily ideas are provided for any users who need inspiration on starting their journal. It makes journaling enjoyable and less like a chore.

Customization

Providing the lowest limitation on customizing their journal makes it fun.

Different Features

Organization

Users seek the organization of their journals. The journals page is designed so that the users have options of choosing from list view to card view. Bookmark, tag, and search features are added for the users to find their journals easily.

Recording

The recording feature is for any user that is not able to type. They might just be too lazy to type. They might be in an environment or condition where they have limitations in typing (e.g. truck driver who wants to record as they are driving).

Privacy

Securing Personal Memories

Most people don’t like their journals being exposed to others. Privacy is an important aspect that needs to be respected. Passcode/Face ID feature is added to satisfy the need.
